These terms apply to all driving lessons, training, test preparation, dual control car hire and instructor (ADI) training provided by Safe Hands Driving Academy (“we”, “us”, “our”). By booking with us you agree to these terms.

1. Our services

We provide professional practical driver training, including taxi practical test preparation, minibus (Category D1), bus (Category D) and lorry (Category C and C+E) training, Approved Driving Instructor (ADI/PDI) training, and dual control car hire. Training is delivered to DVSA standards by experienced instructors across Birmingham.

2. Booking and prices

Lesson prices start from £35 per lesson. Final prices depend on the service and package and will be confirmed with you when you enquire, before you book. Lessons are booked by phone, email, social media message or our website booking form, and are confirmed once we have agreed a date and time with you. Lesson times are flexible and arranged with your instructor.

3. Payment

Payment is due as agreed when you book, either per lesson or for a package. Packages are paid for in advance unless we agree otherwise in writing. Unused lessons in a package are not refundable once the package has begun unless we agree otherwise, but we will always consider genuine circumstances fairly.

4. Cancellations and changes

Please give at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or rearrange a lesson. Lessons cancelled with less notice, or missed without notice, may be charged in full. If we need to cancel or reschedule a lesson (for example due to illness, vehicle problems or severe weather), we will offer you another time or a refund for that lesson.

5. Learner responsibilities

You agree to:

  • hold a valid driving licence (or provisional licence) for the lesson you are booking, and bring it with you;
  • meet the legal eyesight standard and tell us about any medical condition that may affect your driving;
  • arrive on time, rested and fit to drive, and not be under the influence of alcohol, drugs or any medication that affects driving;
  • follow your instructor’s reasonable instructions and drive safely and considerately.

6. Ending a lesson

Your instructor may end a lesson early if they believe it is unsafe to continue, for example if you are unfit to drive, have not brought your licence, or behave in an abusive or unsafe way. In these cases the full lesson fee may still be charged.

7. Driving tests

Where you ask us to, we can help with test booking. Test fees are paid to the DVSA and are separate from our lesson fees. Our instructors will prepare you to the best of their ability and our first-time pass rate is around 80%, but we cannot guarantee that you will pass your test. Whether you pass is decided by the examiner.

8. Dual control car hire

Dual control car hire is available for ADIs and learner drivers. The hirer must hold a valid licence and provide any documents we reasonably request. Hire rates, deposit, insurance cover, mileage and responsibility for damage, fines and fuel will be agreed in writing before the hire begins.

9. ADI / PDI training

ADI training covers Part 1 theory, Part 2 driving ability and Part 3 instructional ability. We provide training and support but cannot guarantee success in any DVSA qualification test.

10. Our responsibility to you

We will provide our services with reasonable care and skill. We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for anything else that cannot be excluded by law. Subject to this, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for losses caused by events outside our reasonable control.

11. Your personal information

We handle your personal information as described in our Privacy Policy.

12. Complaints

If you are unhappy with any part of our service, please contact us first and we will do our best to put things right promptly.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version on our website at the time you book applies to that booking.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any dispute will be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales.
